What do you think?

Note
If you use a title for the Zazzlit, it will become a link in the top panel of the gadget using my referral link (yours is still used for all other links).

If you don't want this, leave the title area blank. This is done by using title=%00.

If you like this gadget and feel I deserve a reward :) then using a gadget title will mean I get any referrals arising from clicks on it (remember though, all other links in the gadget use your referral id)

Sarah the romantic

Sarah writes a blog about period drama, so her followers are going to be interested in goods about love and romance. Sarah wants only 15 results displayed.

Here's the Zazzle rss search she uses for the gadget:

Highton Ridley

(Yes, that's me!) I have a very specific set of fine art images (quite different from any other images I use). My main blog is devoted to fine art photography, so on that blog I want to show only products that use fine art images. That's what my followers are most likely interested in.  I'll show the maximum number (100) that Zazzle's RSS feed supports.

Here's the Zazzle rss search I'll use for the gadget:

Jen runs a fractal site

In her section on pimping your room, Jen wants to show a variety (up to the 100 max) of fractal posters on Zazzle.

Here's the Zazzle rss search she'll use for the gadget:

Beware a couple of 'gotcha's

  • When Zazzle searches using the feed approach, it searches all(?) text associated with products, not just the tags.
So when it suits your purpose, make sure you use distinctive tags that won't appear in other text
  • Even though your store might be on a .co.uk or .ca domain or whatever, you still have to use zazzle.com in all Zazzle RSS searches.

Other uses

Here's a couple of other thoughts to get you going.

Featured Designs

  • If you do a featured design each week and want to show just those products on your blog, then:
    • Decide on what tag you'll use for this purpose, let's say you choose "featureddesign"
    • Go to your store and add that as a power tag to all relevant products
    • Use the following feed in the gadget for your blog http://www.zazzle.com/YOURSTORENAME/rss?qs=featureddesign&ps=100&st=popularity&isz=medium&at=YOURASSOCIATEID
    • The following week, remove the featureddesign power tag from last week's products and add them to this week's
    • Voila! The gadget on your blog automatically shows the products using your latest featured design

Short on space?

..then use a small image size (isz=small) with a narrow gadget:

BadDawg has a Reggae music blog

His narrow side bar on his blog means he has to use small images.

Here's the Zazzle rss search he'll use for the gadget:

Set the gadget width to 130px. Switching off the date and changing the box outline colour to white (255,255,255) makes it look neater at this size.
Note that with such a narrow width, you need to enclose the script you get given in a <div> with a width set 16px wider than the gadget's.
