The living is not easy on Dartmoor with all but the hardiest not making it past their first few struggling months. Some survive—just—despite the worst weather the moors can throw at them.

As it's grown, this tree has been bent flat by the prevailing winds—you can seee how each of its branches is struggling for the skies!

I've chosen a letter-box crop for this shot, emphasising the horizintal, and the thin band of sky I've included adds to this. I got the added bonus of a hole in the clouds on the right balancing the tor (rocky outcrop) on the left, so just had to include it.
