Escape From Despair

Fossil hunters along the Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis in Dorset can easily be cut off by the incoming tide. As a precaution, a few escape ladders, staining the concrete with rust, have been built on the cliffs closest to Lyme Regis.

Without these life-savers, many would have started on the jouney towards being a fossil themselves!
