"Last Friday" Luvies night tonight

Meet up with me and fellow creatives tonight at Last Friday, in the B-Bar, Plymouth Barbican.

Boot Revisited

I spotted this boot as I was leaving Mans's workshop. It reminded me of one of the 'de-rigeur' sketches that we all did at school - you know, using a range of pencils from 2B to 6B - so I thought I'd have a crack at a mono shot of it.

I liked the way the sunlight picked out the toe and the heel - especially around the weeds growing in the "lee" of the boot. I did a little dodging and burning to accentuate the highlights and applied a bit of a vignette.

I was a bit constrained as to the point of view - I didn't want to get in the way of the light - but overall I'm pleased with the result.

New uploads - Mans Eskandary

The focus of the update today were the photos I took a few days ago at Mans's workshop. The main point was to take Mans's portrait and a few of his workshop to give context to the portrait.

Mans was very keen to choose the pose himself, to portray how he likes to stay out of the limelight - keeping metaphorically in the shadows and concentrating on his art - the fabulous Raku pottery brought to life with his secret blend of glazes and alchemy.

There are still a couple of shots that I want to capture - Mans working at the potter's wheel and later at the kiln.
