Music playlist - does it bother you?

I've just added a music player and playlist to my template. It plays automatically (it's a little way down on the right hand column). [Update: after feedback from you folks (thanks!) it now doesn't play automatically]

What I want to know is does it bother you? If I get a few comments saying so, I'll take it off.

They are some of my favourite chilled tunes from the last century (that sounds strange!)

I'm hoping you'll enjoy the music enough to leave this window open while you continue browsing.

You'll here such classics as Albatross, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Cry Me A River and Freebird. I hope you enjoy :)

Most of the time I like the music, but it becomes annoying when I'm trying to concentrate on what I'm reading. A lengthier article or new skill/concept. Your play list is great - I'll let you know if anything doesn't strike my fancy.

Thanks for stopping by today.

the first thing I do when I notice someone has a playlist is hit stop. though I love music, it distracts me while I'm reading and/or looking around.

Freebird is one of my all time favorite songs. Playlists don't really bother me. If I'm busy at work, I usually have my speakers turned down anyway. Its your blog, you should have what you want on it! :)

my initial response is that, as, maisy above says, it's your blog - your creation - and my second response is that i happen to love music and love it on blogs - and thirdly, speakers/sounds adjust - very thoughtful of you to ask - have a great day - jenean

Thanks for the feedback folks - much appreciated.

For now, I've decided to keep it but with autoplay switched off. That way, if folks want a chilled out journey down memory lane, they can.

So i they don't hit the play button, they won't be bothered by it.

@Maisy: Yes, mine too - takes me right back to the heady days when the world seemed to be my oyster ;)

Mark...you have struck the perfect balance. I have seen the playlist widget...the only reson I haven;t added it is that I didn't know you can turn off the auto play. Personally, I love music while I am browsing...it usually adds to the mood for me but many people do not like the music playing. So as I said..you have the perfect solution...if you like music as I do...I can turn it on...if you don't you can leave it off. Great idea!

Great choice of music Mark.
Mostly I have the sound off as DW is mostly watching TV in the same room, so we can talk a little as we do our own thing.lol

@Dan: I'll keep my eye out (then my ear) for yours when I'm on your blog.

@imac: I think I might be giving away my age there! I think as time goes on, I'll just keep adding more of my (mellow) favourites from back then.

I like the music feature and have had it on my blog for a while. But after many complaints of slow uploads to view my page, I took it off. I will add a single tune player to a particular post every now and then, letting the viewer decide whether to play it or not.
